Recipes

When it comes to baking/cooking I usually rely on cookbooks and online recipes. Sometimes baking from boxes can be great, but often I'm disappointed with the result. Cooking gluten-free doesn't always result in a fantastic meal, trust me I've tried many recipes that have gone straight into the garbage. It's important to be patient and not get too upset when things come out badly. It takes time to find the best gluten free recipes but in the end it's worth it. Click the link below to see a bunch of delicious gluten free recipes for all occasions.

Restaurants

I love eating out, however since I've gone gluten free my restaurant options have been limited, but not vanished completely. Finding restaurants that are trustworthy to make safe gluten free food can be tough. Below are a list of restaurants/food places that I trust and have increasing been drawn towards.

  • PF Chang's
  • Biaggi's
  • Longhorn steakhouse
  • Uno's
  • Il Fornaio
  • Starbucks (refreshers or cream based frapachinos made in the back except for DCC)
  • Chilis
  • Outback Steakhouse
  • Ruby Tuesday
  • Bonefish Grill
If you have any more ideas or restaurants that you know have gluten free options, please comment. :)

My favorite products

Throughout my gluten-free journey I've tried several good and bad gluten free recipes. I've decided to pick out my favorite to share with you. Please try them!!

Kind Bars

Kind bars are a recent gluten free discovery of mine. They are delicious granola bars, made mostly of nuts. There are several different kinds and I recommend trying them all! Kind bars are great portable snacks that can be taken on trips as well as just eaten at home!  Great for gluten free teens on the go.

Annie's gluten free macaroni and cheese

I've tried many types of gluten free macaroni and cheese, but Annie's is definitely the best. Annie's uses organic rice pasta with cheddar cheese to make a delicious mac n cheese dish. Great for gluten free teens (and kids of all ages) that love macaroni and cheese. I highly recommend trying this tasty treat.

Glutino

Glutino is a brand of gluten free foods with many different options. They have pasta, cereal, bagels, bread, chips, pretzels, and much more! Glutino has given me much luck with finding the right gluten free chioces. Their wide verity of foods and outstanding tase makes a wonderful addition to the the gluten free world. One of my favorites is the chocolate covered pretzels.  Your gluten free teen may love them too.  Check it out!

Pancakes

Delicious gluten free pancakes have been very tricky to find. After almost two years of trying, I found the best gluten free pancake recipe. If there is a wegmans store near you. I recommend making these delicious pancakes. They taste the best in my opinion with chocolate chips mixed in the batter. Enjoy!

Wegmans also has amazing brownie, cake, and cookie mixes!  In addition, Wegmans labels almost all of their gluten free products with a "G":

This gluten free teen is very grateful.

If you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask!

Makeup

For some people, having gluten free make-up is also important.  When it comes to makeup, there are only two brands I trust to be 100% gluten free. These brands areLavera and Mineral Fusion. Other brands often irritate my skin. Below are the links to both makeup brands.

Please try them!

WENDYS GLUTEN FREE

I've never trusted fast food places to be gluten free but Wendy's recently came out with a gluten free menu that they claims to be okay for people with celiac. Yesterday I tried one of their frosty shakes with no problem at all. It is obviously your choice if you decide to trust them or not, depending on how sensitive you are. Overtime

I always use to get this feeling while watching others eat food with gluten. It felt like something inside of me was going burst unless I reached for that food and gorged it down. I hated that feeling and tried to avoid it at all cousts. Yesterday, as I was sitting next to my father and brother devouring Mc Donald's hamburgers, I realized that the terrible feeling wasn't there. I didn't feel my usual jealousy, or hatred towards gluten free food. It was gone, I even felt happy that I was resisting the unhealthy food. My point is, it gets better. It may take a year or even longer but hopefully, that feeling will go away. I actually feel glad that I can't eat unhealthy food like Mc Donald's, and donuts and all that food that I use to love. It makes me a much healthier person.

Googling

When I first started living gluten free, I thought that you just had to read the ingredients to see if something was gluten free. Although this is sometimes the case, it isn't necessarily always true. Sometimes natural ingredients contain wheat. Before you eat a product always make sure to google it to be 100% positive it is gluten free. This isn't necessary when eating something like fruit, or veggies that you know doesn't contain gluten. Checking online is always the safest bet, even something simple like a hersheys kiss sometimes contains gluten. If you're not sure about something, don't eat it to stay safe.

Often, to claim that a product is gluten free, a site will label its product with this symbol:
